Design a heat sink and cap made through additive manufacturing, to cool a power of 135 Watts as well as possible. Research the potential of a passive water cooling using natural convection. The possibility to cool electrical components without spending power on the cooling itself.

Involved courses

Project description

- Starting where a graduation student ended with the project. At this time there is a test setup, 3 heat sinks (heat sinks not made through additive manufacturing), and 3 caps.

- Making heat sink and cap watertight. Getting familiar with software to design and simulate new concepts.

- New design, simulation results, and pratically tested with results. With a seperate test regarding surface roughness of heat sink walls and its effect.

- Test results of the heat sink’s surface roughness. New design of heat sink and cap, printed, and tested in test setup.
