Magnetic levitation

The assignment is to investigate a magnetic floating globe and replicating it using equipment of the education. Also, the possibility to adjust the height of the levitating object will be looked into. The intention is to eventually create practicals that fit into the curriculum for students of engineering physics.

Project description

The project started with a contact from Engineering Physics with the assignment to investigate and replicate the operating of a magnetic floating globe. This was the biggest challenge of the project.

In addition, the contact was interested to introduce practicals for the education based on the principle of the floating globe.

The expectations and results are corresponding, because replicating the floating globe was a success, using an electromagnet, arduino and a coded script. Based on these used components, the designed practicals have been established for electromagnetism and control technology, and vary for different levels of students of engineering physics.
