Photonic crystal sensor

Designing a sensor that can measure different physical properties in extreme conditions. Making a working prototype sensor using a metal 3D printed photonic crystal.Helping in finding a suitable material for making the diverter out of. This can later be used inside one of the fusion reactors currently in development.

Project description

Started from scratch. Understanding the fundamentals of a fusion reactor, photonic crystals and the technical papers online. Designing, simulating, printing and measuring a working metal 3D printed prototype. Working prototype with a maximum tested temperature of 200°C. we can see a shift in the valley of the measurements caused by the increase in temperature.
