MIC Collaborative COVID-19 Challenge

The Make Impact Consortium (MIC) organiseert een COVID-19 Design Challenge om studenten te betrekken bij ondernemerschap door middel van een community en om sociaal bewustzijn te creëren. Studenten met een ondernemende geest kunnen zich aansluiten bij studententeams in de COVID-19 wedstrijd om oplossingen te verzinnen over de heropening rond het thema COVID en deze door te ontwikkelen in een ontwerp.
De COVID-19 challenge is een wereldwijde wedstrijd waar studenten van de aangesloten MIC-partners aan de slag gaan met oplossingen omtrent de heropening van de COVID-19. Vanuit Fontys kan een team gevormd worden met minimaal 3 studenten en maximaal 6 studenten. Het team is vrij in de keuze voor een thema rondom de heropening.
Mogelijke thema's:
Elk team is vrij om zijn eigen COVID-19 uitdaging te kiezen. Daarbij wordt een uitzondering gemaakt op medische producten.
Mogelijke thema’s zijn:
- Restaurants en bars
- Reizen (luchtvaartmaatschappijen, treinen, hotels, metro's, enz.)
- Vermaak- en sportlocaties
- Detailhandel
- Vrijetijdsvoorzieningen (sportscholen, studio's, casino's, enz.)
- Persoonlijke diensten (haar, nagels, massage, acupunctuur, enz.)
Elk lid van het team ontvangt een bedrag van $500 op basis van teamwork en het bijwonen van de trainingssessies.
De wedstrijd loopt vanaf deze week tot 16 juli 2020. Je eerste idee mag je pitchen op 20 juni en de eindpresentatie zal plaatsvinden op 16 juli 2020.

The Make Impact Consortium is hosting a collaborative MathWorks® COVID-19 Design Challenge to engage its students in entrepreneurship through community building and social awareness. Student teams will design, model and CAD solutions around the theme of reopening during COVID-19.
The COVID-19 Challenge is a worldwide competition where students of the connected MIC partners can work on solutions concerning the reopening of the COVID-19. From Fontys a team can be formed with a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 6 students. The team is free to choose a theme around the reopening.
Themes
Each team is free to choose its own COVID-19 created challenge to solve. Please refrain from any medical products. Also, the emphasis is on hardware oriented designs. Below is a list of theme suggestions:
- Restaurants and bars
- Travel (airlines, trains, hotels, subways, etc)
- Entertainment and sports venues
- Retail
- Leisure facilities (gyms, studios, casinos, etc)
- Personal services (hair, nails, massage, acupuncture, etc)
- Reimagine a shared object in a COVID-19 world such as a microwave or fridge handle, a gas pump handle, etc.
Each member of the team will receive $500 based on teamwork and attendance at the training sessions.
The competition runs from this week until July 16, 2020. You may pitch your first idea on June 20 and the final presentation will take place on July 16, 2020.
Timeline:
June 8 Teams start working on concepts and ideas
June 9 Training sessions (Autodesk, Mathworks, Entrepreneurship 101, Presentation skills…) will empower the students to learn new skills while MIC can assess and evaluate teaching methods and tools used in innovation
June 19 Pitch 3 possible project concepts /ideas (no more, no less)
June 19 Idea Selection
June 29 Design Review and Advice by MIT Staff
July 14 Submission of Presentations
July 15 Dry Run of Presentations
July 16 Final Presentations

Teams can win the following prizes in the COVID-19 challenge:
Cash prizes will be awarded to the best design(s) and for the best media documentation effort (documentation of photos, videos and more):
