Covid19 and cross-border trade 1

My name is Maryse Mongo, I am 21 years old and from Mönchengladbach, Germany. Currently, I am working towards completing the last semester of my International Business studies at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Venlo.

My graduation research assignment is going to be aimed at answering the question: “How did Covid19 affect cross-border trade and business between the Netherlands and Germany?”.  In order to answer this question, both secondary and primary research will be conducted.

The pandemic has obliged Dutch and German businesses to adapt to the government restrictions in the respective countries. The changing environment also has impacted the way business is conducted. Considering that the trade agreement between Germany and the Netherlands is mutually important for the economy of both countries, the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on business and trade is yet to be elaborated and assessed.  The result can be used to optimise decision-making in the future outlook.

The assignment is mostly focussed on the German region of Mönchengladbach, Viersen & Krefeld, as well as the region of Noord- & Midden-Limburg on the Dutch side of the border.
