Your introduction week
The new academic year starts in September.
Before your studies start, you will first take part in the introduction period, called Purple 2024!
During the introduction period (from August 21st until August 30th), getting to know each other is key!
Purple introduction week
Study association Proxy of Fontys ICT, will be organising a number of fun and interesting activities for all the new students who have chosen to study in English language. Below is a list of all the events.
We invite you all to take part in these activities! It is not mandatory, however, we strongly advise new students to participate, because this is THE place to be at the beginning of the new educational year. This is where you get to meet your new classmates and will probably make new friends.
Please have a look at the activities and do not forget to REGISTER if you want to participate.
Furthermore, Fontys University of Applied Sciences is organising a Welcome Party with BBQ & drinks for ALL international students, not only ICT students. If you want to participate, please register for that Welcome Party separately as well.

Hanging out at a picnic to get to know your peers better. The Culture Market Picnic is a vibrant, multicultural event where students from different countries gather to represent their cultures through food, music, dance, and traditional attire. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes, and remember to apply sunscreen.

Going to Jump Square for this event. Showing students one of the entertainments of the city. We're heading to Trampoline World, so please wear comfortable clothing since we will be jumping a lot.

Efteling is a renowned fantasy-themed amusement park in the Netherlands, known for its fairy-tale-inspired attractions, immersive storytelling, and lush natural surroundings. Established in 1952, it is one of the oldest theme parks in the world and features a variety of rides, shows, and experiences that cater to visitors of all ages. Please bring your ID, pass, sunscreen, and a bottle of water, and we'll have a great time at one of the best amusement parks around.
Time: 09.00 - 21.00
Location: Building R10, Rachelsmolen 1, Eindhoven, followed by transport to the location.

This event will be based around the whole city centre. We will try to take you on an interesting tour, showing you crucial points in Eindhoven. Don't forget to bring water and sunscreen for a comfortable outing!

Aquabest is a recreational area located near Eindhoven, Netherlands, offering a variety of outdoor activities such as swimming, water sports, and festivals. It is known for hosting major events like music festivals and providing facilities for family-friendly entertainment and relaxation. We're going to have a blast at Aquabest! Don't forget to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and most importantly, your swimsuit.
Time: 12.00 - 17.00
Location: Building R10, Rachelsmolen 1, 5612 MA Eindhoven (transport provided).
Needed items: Sunscreen, water, swimsuit and bring your own lunch!
We will take our you on a trip around the Student Sport Center Eindhoven(SSCE), and we will introduce you to the sports associations. Please bring sportswear because we will be participating in various activities, and don't forget to bring a bottle of water and sunscreen.
Time: 08.30 - 13.00
Location: Building R10, Rachelsmolen 1, 5612 MA Eindhoven (transport provided).
Needed items: water, sports clothes, sport shoes.
We will take you bowling where we will form groups with you to socialise.
Time: 13.00 - 16.00
Location: Vijfkamplaan 6-A, 5624 EB Eindhoven (transport to the location provided from Student Sports Centre Eindhoven).
We will be organising a party for the students to get to know each other a little better and feel the student atmosphere. We will go together to Stadhuisplein to have fun in the heart of Eindhoven. Don’t forget to bring your ID or passport.

Location: Stadhuisplein, Eindhoven (transport provided from Bowling).

This event aims to introduce you to the Eindhoven party life and show you Stratumseind Street. After the party at Stadhuisplein, we'll head to Stratumseind to show you the pubs in Eindhoven. Don't forget to bring your ID or passport.

Please note: Students under the age of 18 may are not allowed to participate; different activities will be arranged on Proxy's discord server.
If are you a fan of festivals, and love dancing and singing, then this is the perfect event for you. There will be students from all Fontys campuses: Eindhoven, Tilburg, and Venlo. We will gather in building R10, Eindhoven and we will go to Tilburg. Transport is provided by Purple. Sunscreen is allowed in a small package, max. 100ML
Time: 14.00 - 23.00
Location: Building R10, Rachelsmolen 1, 5612 MA Eindhoven (transport by bus to the city of Tilburg provided).

We’re going to show you what your future could look like in different ICT careers. This will help you imagine your future and guide your studies.
Time: 09.00 - 12.00
Location: Building R10, Rachelsmolen 1, 5612 MA Eindhoven
We will give the students a tour of the R10 building and address any questions they may have about their future place of study.
Time: 13.00 - 16.00

On Friday August 30th, Fontys and Purple organise the Welcome Party for international students, where you can expect to get a BBQ & drinks. This event is all about getting to know fellow international students.
From 16:00 to 20:00h Campus Rachelsmolen will be filled with conversations, info and 'gezelligheid' as the Dutch would say. We would like to invite you to the Fontys Welcome Party in Eindhoven!
Participating in the Welcome Party is free for international students, buddies, teachers and coaches of Fontys.
However, make sure to register! No registration = no ticket and no entrance.

During this introduction week, many photos and videos will be made. They will include selfies and videos made by students on mobile phones as well as photos and videos made by professional photographers. By participating in this introduction week you automatically agree that these photos and/or videos are being published (i.a. social media, flyers, ads and websites).
