Your introduction weekend

Your study programme starts on 19 February. But before your study begins, you'll first take part in the introduction weekend (Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 February). During these days, getting to know each other is key. It will be an introduction for all Fontys Engineering students who start in February. You will meet students from the Dutch and international programmes.

Get to know your course and make friends for life

You will get to know your fellow students and meet friends for life. You will be introduced to your study programme and Eindhoven. You will eat together, experience the city together, get to know each other and discover your study programme, make memories together and much more ... What that will look like, what you will need, where you will need to be, who you can contact, you can all be find here! We will make it a fantastic weekend!

Programme

The Fontys Engineering introduction programme has lots of fun activities. An experience that you definitely do not want to miss! Below we have very briefly summarised what your weekend will look like.

First day of a weekend full of fun for all new international and national Engineering students (bachelors). You will be welcomed at 09.30 hrs at Nexus building (De Rondom 1, Eindhoven). We will start with some introductions to get to know each other. Afterwards introduction groups (families) are made by speed dating with other students. We continue with an Engineering challenge, where your brainpower and/or technical skills are needed.

In the afternoon you will discover more about Eindhoven. You will explore the city center and the most important places you should know about. During the whole weekend there will be small crazy challenges, like for example who can stick a sticker at the highest point. There is a prize ceremony on Sunday for these challenges.

You will finish the day with dinner and a karaoke session at the nightlife district in Eindhoven. Lastly you will return to your own accommodation and we will meet again the next day.

Wake up! Another day of your introduction is about to start at 12.00 hrs. During this day we continue with the crazy challenges and we start with our sports day. So put on some sporty-clothes.We will finish with a prize ceremony of the crazy challenges. At 16.00 hrs you will return home again.

Photos and videos

During this introduction weekend, many photos and videos will be made. They will include selfies and videos made by students on mobile phones as well as photos and videos made by professional photographers. By participating in this introduction weekend you automatically agree that these photos and/or videos are being published (i.a. social media, flyers, ads and websites).

Registration Introduction weekend 17-18 February

Great that you want to sign up for the introduction weekend! Registering for it is important, because by doing so we can organize an awesome weekend for you! Register before 17 February, 09.30 hrs and fill in your details as completely as possible.

After payment for the weekend, € 15 your registration is final! You can pay for it, either online or on the spot, by cash or by card.

Additional information

If you follow a diet for medical reasons, have certain (food) allergies or are vegetarian, please indicate this on the registration form.

It is forbidden to consume liqor and drugs. Should we find liquor and/or any drugs, they will be confiscated and you can no longer join the introduction programme. Although alcohol may be used, Innovum has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to alcohol use under the age of 18 and any drug use in general. Students aged 18 or older will receive an 18+ wristband at the start of the introduction weekend upon presentation of their ID card.

During the entire introduction weekend, first aid and/or inhouse emergency is present. First aid people can be recognized by their yellow vests.

Participation in the introduction costs a total of €15 per person. Register and pay here and do this before 17 February 2023, 09.30 hrs.

We would like to be informed in advance if there are medical matters that we need to be aware of. This includes illnesses, (food) allergies (epipen) etc. Please mention it on the registration form or inform Nicole (international-innovum@fontys.nl / +31-(0)6-47561090.

During the entire introduction weekend photos and videos will be taken. These may be made public or used for promotional purposes. By participating in the introduction you give permission for this.

'Dads and moms'

'Dads and moms' are current students of one of the Engineering programmes. They are your contact point during both days and will guide you around the introduction. Our 'moms and dads' are there for you 24/7 during the introduction weekend. You get to know your 'dad and mom' on Saturday the 17th of February.

Packing list

To make sure you are fully prepared for the introduction weekend, tick off the packing list below. You will stay overnight at your own room, flat or (parent's) house.

ID card
Easy clothes and shoes that may turn dirty
Good mood
Medication (if necessary)
Enough credit on your bank account and/or cash money!
Rainwear or poncho on rainy days
Sports clothes

But the most important things to bring are your good sense and a lot of energy!

FAQ

During the introduction weekend you get to know your future classmates and students from other Engineering programmes. It is not compulsory, but we strongly recommend it. It is the start of a (new) social life in Eindhoven.

It can be discussed with the introduction committee to join later or end earlier. Please send an email to international-innovum@fontys.nl.

The contribution for the introduction weekend is € 15 per person.
