Your introduction weekend

Your study programme starts on 10 February. But before your study begins, you'll first take part in the introduction weekend (Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 February). During these days, getting to know each other is key. It will be an introduction for all Fontys Engineering students who start in February. You will meet students from the Dutch and international programmes.

Get to know your course and make friends for life

You will get to know your fellow students and meet friends for life. You will be introduced to your study programme and Eindhoven. You will eat together, experience the city together, get to know each other and discover your study programme, make memories together and much more ... Programme

The Fontys Engineering introduction programme has lots of fun activities. An experience that you definitely do not want to miss! Below we have very briefly summarised what your weekend will look like.

Get ready for a fun-packed weekend to kick off your Engineering adventure! We are starting the day at 09.00 hrs at the Nexus building (De Rondom 1, Eindhoven). We will begin with some chill introductions so everyone can get to know each other. After that we will mix things up with speed dating to form introduction groups (a.k.a. your new 'family'). Then it is time to put your brainpower and skills to test with an Engineering challenge!

In the afternoon, we are keeping the energy going with indoor games at Nexus. Plus, there will be mini-challenges all weekend - like seeing who can place a sticker at the highest point. A prize ceremony for these challenges will take place on Sunday.

After that, you will have some free time with your intro family. Whether you want to check out Eindhoven's city centre, grab some snacks, or just hang out - it's all up to your group!

We are wrapping up the day with dinner and a karaoke night in Eindhoven's nightlife district. At the end of the party at 22 hrs, you will head back to your place and we will pick things up again the next day.

Rise and shine - it is time for day two of the intro weekend! We are kicking things off at 11.00 hrs at the Cafeteria of the Students Sports Centre (Onze Lieve Vrouwestraat 1, Eindhoven). The crazy challenges continue, and today is all about sports - so throw on some comfy, sporty clothes! You will get a tour of the gym, jump into some esport/video games, and join workshops for indoor football, basketball, and archery tag. We will finish with a prize ceremony for the crazy challenges - so if your group hasn't stuck a sticker somewhere ridiculous yet, this is your chance! By 17.00 hrs, you will head back home to chill and recharge.

Photos and videos

During this introduction weekend, many photos and videos will be made. They will include selfies and videos made by students on mobile phones as well as photos and videos made by professional photographers. By participating in this introduction weekend you automatically agree that these photos and/or videos are being published (i.a. social media, flyers, ads and websites).

Registration Introduction weekend 8-9 February

Great that you want to sign up for the introduction weekend! Registering for it is important, because by doing so we can organize an awesome weekend for you! Register before 8 February, 09.00 hrs and fill in your details as completely as possible.

After payment for the weekend, € 15 your registration is final! You can pay for it, either online or on the spot, by card only.

It is forbidden to consume liqor and drugs. Should we find liquor and/or any drugs, they will be confiscated and you can no longer join the introduction programme. Although alcohol may be used (only from 16.00 hrs!), Innovum has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to alcohol use under the age of 18 and any drug use in general. Students aged 18 or older will receive an 18+ wristband at the start of the introduction weekend upon presentation of their ID card.

During the entire introduction weekend, first aid and/or inhouse emergency is present. First aid people can be recognized by their yellow vests.

Participation in the introduction costs a total of €15 per person. Register and pay here and do this before 8 February 2025, 09.00 hrs.

We would like to be informed in advance if there are medical matters that we need to be aware of. This includes illnesses, (food) allergies (epipen) etc. Please mention it on the registration form or inform Jarno (intro-innovum@fontys.nl / +31-(0)6-29 58 84 52.

During the entire introduction weekend photos and videos will be taken. These may be made public or used for promotional purposes. By participating in the introduction you give permission for this.

'Parents'

'Parents' are current students of one of the Engineering programmes. They are your contact point during both days and will guide you around the introduction. Our 'parents' are there for you 24/7 during the introduction weekend. You get to know your 'parents' on Saturday the 8th of February.

Packing list

To make sure you are fully prepared for the introduction weekend, tick off the packing list below. You will stay overnight at your own room, flat or (parent's) house.

ID card
Small backpack & a water bottle
Casual clothes for Saturday and if you want party shoes/kicks for the evening
Sports clothes & indoor sports shoes (non-marking soles) for Sunday
Enough credit on your bank account and/or cash money!
Medication (if necessary)

But the most important things to bring are good mood, a lot of energy and positive vibes!

FAQ

During the introduction weekend you get to know your future classmates and students from other Engineering programmes. It is not compulsory, but we strongly recommend it. It is the start of a (new) social life in Eindhoven.

It can be discussed with the introduction committee to join later or end earlier. Please send an email to intro-innovum@fontys.nl.

The contribution for the introduction weekend is € 15 per person.
