Year 1

Your propedeutic year

In your propaedeutic year, divided into 4 periods, you'll learn the basics of Industrial Engineering and Management. You'll start by researching a business process with peers and later apply this knowledge to improve a company of your choice. Throughout, you'll build key skills like research, problem-solving, and communication, and be introduced to the OPEX (Operational Excellence) profile.

Year 2-4

Main Phase

After the propaedeutic phase, you'll build on the basics by completing two modules focused on improving and redesigning business processes. You'll gain hands-on experience by working at a company several days a week to boost your CV. With your coach, you'll tailor your study path, including the sector, skills, and profile that fit you. You’ll follow a minor, either locally or abroad, and complete a graduation project.

Student experiences

I like the openness of the teachers and students around me and the way they interact with people.

Angelina

Student Industrial Engineering and Management

I’m Angelina Chakarova, I’m from Bulgaria and I’m a fourth-year student of Industrial Engineering and Management at Fontys. I have always been a technical oriented person, and I wanted to develop myself within this field. On the other hand, I'm also interested in the dynamic relationships between human behaviour and the efficiency of engineering. Therefore, the combination of these two aspects brought me to this choice of programme. I specifically chose Fontys BEnT because of the recommendations of the ‘Unify’ agency I chose for applying. The agency has offices in our country, and they helped me choose the best option for me

I decided to study abroad, because frankly speaking, I wanted to gain a different and broad experience in terms of education and life compared to the experience in my home country. So, I prepared my CV, my motivation letter and all the documentations I needed, and I jumped into this adventure!

The thing I like most about my study is the openness of the teachers and students around me and the way they interact with people. When it comes to the subjects, at this point in my education I can see that they’re closely linked with the real-life situations within companies. All the teachers are willing to help us in every situation. Not only in terms of education, but also in terms of personal matter.
