Get a good impression of what your study programme will look like.
One day you are working on the embedded software of a self-driving car. The next day you are working together with fellow students on a cloud solution for a large international company. After you have mastered the technical basics, you will choose a specialisation.
The programme starts with a broad foundation. Learn to develop and manage software—from analysing and designing to building, testing, and deploying—using the right professional tools. There is also a strong focus on collaboration and developing professional skills. During this foundational phase, discover your strengths and interests, and halfway through the second year, you are ready to choose a specialisation.
The first-year foundation consists of four modules, each with its own challenging project:
Each project introduces topics such as Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence. These topics form the common thread for projects at the start of the second year, completing the foundation phase.
Starting with semester 4, you'll deepen your theoretical knowledge and skills with advanced courses in your chosen field. In the fourth semester, explore two of the five specialisations and complete two projects within your chosen areas. After this, the final phase begins: internship, minor, semester 7, and graduation.
You can choose between 5 different specialisations:
Internship: Gain practical experience during a six-month internship with an organisation and in a field that matches your specialisation. This is an ideal opportunity to demonstrate your skills and develop them further. The internship can be completed in the Netherlands or abroad.
Minor: In the second half of the third year, follow a broadening or deepening minor of your choice. This can be at Fontys or at one of our many partner universities abroad.
Software Factory: In the fourth year, work in a group within the Software Factory, a large project for a real client. Students are responsible for the entire organisation and execution. At the same time, you will further specialise in your chosen field.
Graduation: The year concludes with a graduation internship. This internship also takes place at an external organisation, in the Netherlands or abroad. Successfully completing it demonstrates that you have earned a Bachelor of ICT and are ready to start as a junior IT professional.
