Please note: as of 2020 there is an additional subject requirement of either Mathematics, Economics or Business Economics. Since every country has its own school system we will check your diploma once we have received it from you. In this way, we can compare it to the required Dutch standards.

For the English-taught programmes, the accepted certificates and the minimum requirements for English language proficiency can be found here.
For students with a Dutch diploma: Dutch students are expected to have a good command of the English language, both written and oral. The working language of this programme is exclusively English.
As a non-EU/EEA student, the Netherlands will require an Entry Visa* (MVV) and a Residence Permit. Fontys will apply on behalf of its students for these documents. We recommend you start the process early, i.e. approximately three months before you plan to enter the Netherlands.
*except nationals from Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, South Korea, the USA and Vatican City State.
Fontys University of Applied Sciences will act according to the Code of Conduct.
Taking care of your finances is an important part of student life. There are tuition fees, possible scholarships and (proof of) living expenses to consider.
More about financesGood to know: the Dutch Immigration Service (IND) requires non-EEA students to proof they have access to a certain amount of money per year/semester. Read more by clicking the link above.
Besides tuition fees, there are more costs such as textbooks, introduction, excursions and a good laptop. Are you going to live in a room? Then you will pay rent and other living costs such as gas, water and internet.
Check on DUO whether you are eligible for study financing or a student public transport pass.
Foreign students in the Netherlands typically spend €900-€1,100 monthly, covering rent, insurance, food, transport, clothing, and more.
It is important to us that you feel at home with us. A study choice check can help you do just that. With a questionnaire and a personal interview, together we will see if this programme suits you. Do you apply after the deadline? Then our recommendation is binding.
