About the main subject

Are you interested in studying (Bass)Trombone? AMPA offers a specific course to become a professional trombone-player. Our AMPA Program is based on 6 Key-skills: Ensemble, Self-management, International connectedness, Practice-based research, Entrepreneurship, Interdisciplinarity. All the skills that are required nowadays.

Are you dreaming of a career as a soloist? An orchestral musician? An ensemble specialist? An inspiring teacher? Anything is possible!

You will be trained to become a professional on your instrument with the highest possible musical and technical capabilities. The trombone is the instrument with the widest view and colors to be integrated in baroque, classical, modern, jazz, or popmusic. So there will be much attention towards the diverse stylistic possibilities. This includes studying the most usual repertoire for the instrument, but also more uncommon music to make you an all-round musician. You will be ready to approach every style or situation needed as a professional musician in this interesting and challenging 21st century.

Playing together with other musicians is an integral part of your studies. You will be part of the brass department, but we would also challenge you to think outside the box. Which surprising ensemble combinations can you think of? Perhaps a combination with woodwinds? Percussion? String players? Or would you like to perform alongside other artistic mediums like dance, theatre, or fine arts? It’s all possible and we can offer you the chance to create and develop your own ideas. This will help you to become an independent musician.

In the Bachelor Course you will have weekly lessons with the trombone teacher, a weekly ensemble/band lesson with a coach, and a rehearsal with a pianist to work with. Of course, this is combined with interesting courses on music theory, cultural history, entrepreneurship and much more.

In the Master’s Course, AMPA gives you the opportunity to shape your own educational plan. Do you want to focus on any specific subjects? Or would you like to specialize in teaching, solo playing or ensemble performance? It’s up to you!

Are you the one who except this challenge? We hope to welcome you into our Brass-department.
