About this main subject

Tuba? Ofcourse!
AMPA offers a modern and specialistic tuba course to make you not only an outstanding musician, but also an entrepreneur. Nowadays playing in orchestras and ensembles is one of the many practical ways to give your instrument a voice. In addition we will explore the vast opportunities in solo playing, ensemble making and finding your own podium. We will focus on mastering the fine instrument, but also finding your voice in connecting with other instruments and makers. Finding new ways of developing yourself as a person and a musician and being adaptable to the modern world of music, both off- and online.

In the Bachelor Course you will have weekly lessons with your tuba teacher (Luc Geraats), ensemble coaching lessons, group lessons and rehearsals with a pianist to work on repertoire. Of course, this is combined with interesting courses on music theory, cultural history, entrepreneurship and much more.

In the Master’s Course, AMPA gives you the opportunity to shape your own educational plan. Do you want to focus on any specific subjects? Or would you like to specialise in teaching, solo playing or ensemble performance? It’s up to you!

In the end its all about music and bringing your voice out in the open. We would love to help you achieve your goals!

During this course the six key skills of AMPA will be leading, being:

  • instrument & ensemble playing
  • self-management
  • interdisciplinarity
  • practice-oriented research
  • collective entrepreneurship
  • international connectedness
