Round 1 Preselection:
You have to send a video with 20 minutes music of varied repertoire. In the video your hands must be visible. We strongly advice you to play on an acoustic piano. We also strongly prefer that you play with a live band. If this is not possible you must record yourself with a play along (iRealPro, Aebersold, youtube e.g.).
These videos are considered as a first round. If you pass the first round you will be invited for a second round. Candidates living in the Netherlands/ Belgium Germany will do a live audition in this second round. Candidates from other countries will do an online audition.
Repertoire
You need to prepare and record 20 minutes of varied repertoire
• two original own compositions
• one jazz composition of your own choice (modern jazz, funk, electrical, standard, for example: compositions from Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler, Carla Bley etc.)
•we strongly advice to prepare a classical piece, although this is not mandatory
Round 2:

You are asked to present yourself and play your repertoire with other musicians. This can be your own band, or if this is not possible, the school will provide accompaniment. Please indicate this on the application form. There is no opportunity for rehearsal. Be sure to bring proper sheet music for your band members. We can ask you to do additional assignments, discuss about your personal development plan, in order for us to make a well-informed decision about your application.
