Major

Study activities for your major will consist of:

• individual and group lessons

• independent study

• concerts, projects and ensemble activities

• lessons and masterclasses from your personal budget

Assessment

You will perform in the following recitals and exams in order to complete work on your major:

• recital 1 at the end of the first year of the Master (30 minutes)

• final project presentation at the end of the second year of the Master (the contents of this project presentation will be determined by the student and the faculty) (45 minutes)

Audition

  • To take part in the audition you first have to apply via www.studielink.nl
  • The preselection will take place online
  • After the preselection only selected candidates will proceed to the live audition (for candidates living in the Netherlands or Belgium) or to the online audition (for candidates living in other countries)
  • You can upload your material for the online preselection on your personal admission page
  • You will be asked to submit a personal development plan, in which you outline your plans for the upcoming yeasrs of study and a CV
  • Without a completed bachelor's degree in pop music admission can be possible, as long as you demonstrably show the level and experience equivalent to that of a graduated bachelor's student in pop music. This assessment will be based on your personal development plan, CV, musical audition, and the interview.
  • The live audition lasts 20-30 minutes, where you perform with a band or ensemble. You will perform three different songs that show that you are able to:

  • articulate your own artistic and professional ambitions for the master's program clearly and cohesively in an elevator pitch of max 3 minutes.
  • You will have to perform two different songs that show that you are able to: stylistically perform self-composed, co-written songs/ tracks on a professional level  give artistic value to a song, play with a good sense for feel, groove, presentation and sound.  express a unique (personal) artistic identity
    • After your musical performance there will be an interview with the audition committee, inwhich you will be asked about your artistic vision and your written personaldevelopment plan.
      • Complete the audition form carefully, including your home assignments (Demo - image and/or sound material). Once you have submitted the audition form, you will officially participate in the auditions.

        The deadline for submitting the audition form is 6 February 2025. After 6 February, we will no longer accept forms. Registrations are then closed, we make no exceptions. So don't wait until the very last moment.

        Proceedings of the auditions

        1. Pre-selection:

        From 7 February, the audition committee will look at your material and make a selection.

        If you are not selected, you will be informed and your audition for 2025 will be closed.

        If you pass, you will receive an invitation for the entrance examination no later than the end of March 2025

        2. Admission exam (live or online)

        The entrance examination will take place in April. From Tuesday 15th to Friday 25th of April. Keep these days free in your agenda, you will be invited on one of these days (not during weekdays or holidays).

        The results for the entrance exam will follow in the 2nd week of May 2024.

        If you do not pass, you will receive a message with feedback and we will close your audition for 2025.

        If you pass, you will be admitted and included in the further administrative processing of your registration.
