Introduction to the Module
This module provides an in-depth understanding of the management context and environment relevant to international procurement and performance indicators.
Module Aims
The aim of the module is to:
- Create systematic understanding of procurement management and its application in international context.
- To develop an understanding of the supplier selection process.
- To appreciate the current role of technology in procurement processes.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes
At the end of the module the learner will be expected to be able to:
- Evaluate the impact of procurement on overall organisational performance in terms of competitiveness and profitability.
- To analyse principles of category management and undertake assessment of supply market.
- Critically examine the issues of negotiations and contract management.
- Debate ethical and CSR considerations in procurement decision making.
- Evaluate the importance of sourcing and supplier selection, development and management decisions in international supply chains.
