Do you want to invent new products, improve machines and make spectacular designs? Do you have a passion for technology, are you curious, resourceful and precise? Mechanical Engineering is something for you! As a mechanical engineer, you’ll invent the technology of the future.

About Mechanical Engineering

As a mechanical engineer, you invent, design and implement new products and production processes. Also, you can think about how to make machines and production processes safer. A mechanical engineer knows everything about materials and how to use them in the best possible way. You use the latest scientific insights and practical applications in the field of technology and automation.

Starting in February with Mechanical Engineering?

Why study Mechanical Engineering at Fontys?

  • You’ll work on projects and (research) assignments for real companies
  • Lots of practical work in our labs
  • Developing your full potential, your passion and your capabilities is key to us

What are you going to learn?

We will train you to be a widely employable engineer. You will learn the theory and the practical skills that you need to design, make and maintain equipment, production processes and machines to make products. Many of your teachers have worked in that sector. You will train your technical skills and will carry out challenging (company) projects assignments. An important part of a mechanical engineer’s work consists of technical design. We will support you in that learning process.

We offer you:

  • a good mix between theory and practice.
  • (company) assignments and projects.
  • the opportunity to develop several skills: you will learn to design, cooperate, work in a planned way and think creatively.
  • diverse subjects: from energy and process technology, construction and mechanics, to production technology and materials science, measurement and control technology.

Welcome to our building Nexus!

How does your week look?

Studying is hard work. That’s okay, as long as there’s variety in what you do. At Mechanical Engineering, we’ve got you covered.

  • One time you're following a class in one of our labs
  • The next moment you're working on 3D-prints
  • Or you're taking part in applied research for an company.
  • You will do all of the above together with your fellow students.
