Brainport Eindhoven is Europe’s leading high-tech region, where innovation and manufacturing go hand in hand. Studying Mechanical Engineering in Eindhoven gives you countless opportunities for exciting projects and internships during your studies, along with excellent job prospects after graduation!
In your first year, your weekly schedule includes:
Would you like to follow the programme in Dutch? That's also possible. Discover the Werktuigbouwkunde programme.
In the first two years of your studies, you will build a strong foundation. You will learn everything you need as a mechanical engineer, from theory to practical skills through projects and lab work. You'll explore various subjects, including energy and process technology, construction, mechanics, production technology, materials science, measurement, control technology and physics. You will learn to create 3D drawings using the CAD program. You'll also dive into mathematical formulas to perform calculations for your designs. Our innovative labs allow you to practice diverse technical skills.
In your second year, you’ll delve deeper into the foundational knowledge. You’ll explore subjects like dynamics, machine mechanics, and heat transfer. You'll also gain insights into selecting the best materials and how to shape them. Additionally, you’ll develop your research skills.
Our lecturers collaborate with you and industry partners to explore the latest technologies. Previous students, for example, worked on a transport system for waste disposal and optimizing a production line for maximum efficiency. During the program, we’ll help you discover your passion and push your boundaries!
In your third year, embark on a hands-on internship, whether in the Netherlands or abroad, and choose a minor to further your expertise, both within and outside Fontys. The elective minor, lasting one semester, offers a chance to explore new horizons. For those with an insatiable passion for engineering, there's the option of a technical minor, providing your studies with a distinctive focus and opportunities for specialisation.
Prior to graduating, you will choose one of three specialisations:
Conclude with a specialization-focused graduation project at a Mechanical Engineering company in your final semester.
