Deepening your knowledge

Theoretical Deepening

In your second year, you’ll delve deeper into the foundational knowledge. You’ll explore subjects like dynamics, machine mechanics, and heat transfer. You'll also gain insights into selecting the best materials and how to shape them. Additionally, you’ll develop your research skills.

Challenging Projects

Our lecturers collaborate with you and industry partners to explore the latest technologies. Previous students, for example, worked on a transport system for waste disposal and optimizing a production line for maximum efficiency. During the program, we’ll help you discover your passion and push your boundaries!

Student experiences

My industry experience and expertise prove invaluable in my lessons.

Jenny

Teacher

I have been working in the Mechanical Engineering programme at Fontys Engineering as a lecturer in Mathematics and Mechanics for six years. Additionally, I coordinate the various recruitment activities we organise for the programme. I previously worked in the industry, where I developed a strong desire to have a greater impact on the world. I am achieving that impact here at Fontys by education the next generation of mechanical engineers! My industry experience and expertise prove invaluable to my lessons.

The best part about teaching Mechanical Engineering, for me, is the interaction with my students. It’s a joy to stand in front of this group of young adults. You see them grow and, after four years, graduate as a true professionals. Hopefully, they will go on to make a difference and, with the help of their engineering skills, contribute to societal challenges we can’t ignore. My students are, of course, always welcome to come to me with any theory-related questions. But I’m also there for them as a listening ear. This is especially important for international students, who often need time to adjust and settle after leaving their home and familiar surroundings to start a new study programme.

I would recommend the Mechanical Engineering programme to anyone who enjoys problem-solving and gets excited about finding creative solutions to challenges. It’s a programme perfectly suited for out-of-the-box thinkers! By the end of the programme, with your diploma in hand, you’ll enter the workforce as a beginning mechanical engineer with a solid knowledge base and strong professional skills.

Are you considering studying Mechanical Engineering? It’s totally worth it!

Alex

Student

I’m a first-year Mechanical Engineering student, and I love the programme. I came to study in the Netherlands on my father’s recommendation. He encouraged me to seek new challenges here. I’ve always been fascinated by technology. Growing up, I enjoyed watching my dad work on projects, which inspired me to pursue this field. I haven’t done an internship yet, but when the time comes, I’d love to work at a company that makes a positive impact on society. My advice for students considering studying abroad is to do thorough research. And also, are you considering studying Mechanical Engineering? It’s totally worth it!
