Oliver Meissner
Principal Trombone of the Beethoven Orchester Bonn since 1998, Oliver Meissner is a graduate of the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg, where he studied with Prof. Martin Göss and Prof. Herbert Kammleiter. He continued his studies at London’s distinguished Guildhall School of Music and Drama as a DAAD scholarship recipient with Professors Eric Crees and Simon Wills. During his orchestra career, he has been a guest principal trombonist for several major orchestras in Germany, including the Munich Philharmonic, SWR Symphony Orchestra Freiburg, WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and NDR Symphony Orchestra Hannover. In addition, he is a frequent principal trombonist for the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen since 2010 and has toured with them extensively in Europe and North America, including performances at the London Proms, Ravinia Festival, Tanglewood Music Festival and Mostly Mozart Festival. With the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, he has recorded the complete Schumann and Brahms Symphonies under the baton of Paavo Järvi. Oliver Meißner is also an active chamber musician, having performed with various chamber music ensembles. As a member of the Modern Slide Quartet, he has toured throughout Europe and Asia together with the Windsbacher Knabenchor. Furthermore, he has served as an audition training coach at the Orchesterzentrum NRW in Dortmund.
