Student coach
Studying at a university of applied sciences requires you to be independent and self-reliant quite a bit. This can take some time getting used to at first. This is why every student has access to a student coach right from the start. This coach is your first point of contact for questions related to your studies. They will follow your personal and professional development closely and provide useful tips and advice when necessary. There are several options for coaching, either within your chosen programme or externally. Take, for example, performance anxiety, a complex situation at home or the death of a loved one. Or perhaps you’d like help in planning, prioritising and preparing for classes? Fontys offers all sorts of possibilities when it comes to personal coaching and training.
Personal circumstances
If you notice that studying takes up a lot more time and energy than it should, you can contact Fontys Student Counselling. Your first point of contact will remain your student coach. But if there are problems that cause you to struggle with your studies and might cause you to delay, the Student Counselling Team is there for you. This team consists of career advisors, student counsellors and student psychologists. You will keep full control of your situation, with the help of one of these specialists. Together, you and the specialist will look at possible options and what it is you need for you to be able to continue your studies without (too much) delay.
Personal circumstances include functional disabilities (such as autism or AD(H)D), but also psychological, sensory, auditory or physical disability. There are of course other situations that might apply, such as students in transition, students who have to care for a family member or students that have to combine their studies with elite sports or entrepreneurship.
How to qualify for extra support?
Apply for a study programme in Studielink. Studielink allows you to indicate any personal circumstances. After registration, you’ll receive a request to fill out the Study Choice Check. Here too, you’ll have the opportunity to indicate any personal circumstances. During the intake interview, you will be able to specify exactly which circumstances are at play for you. If you decide to start your study programme, you and your student coach can explore together what type of support and/or counselling you might need.
Fontys Helps!
