Associate degree ICT

Your study programme

Get a good impression of what your study programme will look like.

What will you learn?

In the Associate degree ICT, you will deal with the professional tasks of the ICT professional: analysing, advising, designing, realising and managing. So that later, as a professional, you know what to do in all phases of a project.

Students Associate degree ICT Full-time listen to their lecturer
  • You work on real business assignments from practice.

  • You gain technical as well as social and communication skills.

  • You will be trained for a specific ICT function.

Structure of the next two years

The Associate degree ICT full-time is taken in Eindhoven. The programme lasts two years and consists of four semesters. In the first semester, you will orientate yourself to the entire ICT field. This is how you discover your preferences and talents. In the subsequent semesters, you will specialise more and more so that you can start working in the field immediately after graduation.

year 1
Eindhoven

You work and learn with other students five days a week in an Open ICT Lab, your study environment. In the first semester, you get a broad orientation. Then you choose your topic.

  • Media Design
  • Software Engineering
  • Technology
  • Open Learning

We guide you well in making your choice. In the second semester you develop further in one specific function. For example, if you choose to specialise as a test engineer, you will learn which tasks and skills are associated with that job and how to master them.

year 2
Eindhoven

Second year

Also in the first semester of year 2, you focus further on your specific job. You will develop your computer and professional skills.

In semester four you will graduate. For eight weeks, you study methods, techniques and tools appropriate to your chosen assignment. In the last 12 weeks, you will show in your graduation assignment at a company that you are ready to put your job into practice. At the end of the internship, you will show your results in a graduation session. You wave goodbye as a brand-new ICT graduate.

What I like about the programme is that you get to work directly for real companies. You work on different cases and other projects, gaining experience. The atmosphere is good and people are positive. So I was able to make an impact right from the start of my studies.

On discovery within your studies.

What I love about my studies at Fontys is that I can learn something from all parts of the ICT field. That way I can find out what suits me best. We often work in multidisciplinary groups so we can learn a lot from each other. You gain experience together and can help each other where necessary. The lecturers are easy to reach and helpful. So you are never alone.

Expand your knowledge in two years.

I wanted to expand my knowledge in ICT because I didn't feel I was ready to start working. Fontys works in a different way; you apply everything you learn directly in practice. We don't get tests, but work during a period on building a portfolio. Based on that, you are assessed.
