Minor Entrepreneurship
- Starts February and September
- Dutch
- 30 ECTS
- 5 months
What will I learn in the minor Entrepreneurship?
- You will learn to start a real business in the Netherlands, with a deep understanding of the specific context of Eindhoven and the region.
- You will able to translate entrepreneurial principles to their home country context, adapting to local markets and environments.
- You will be exposed to an international and multi-disciplinary environment, developing the skills to effectively collaborate in such settings.
- You will be able to identify opportunities and develop entrepreneurial ideas that positively contribute to society and that makes a lasting impact.

During this minor, taking initiative and active collaboration is important. Our location in Eindhoven offers you as an entrepreneurial Fontys student a workplace where you can arrange matters for your company, approach potential clients, but also network and visit other entrepreneurs. We offer you lectures, training courses and workshops with the necessary basic knowledge and skills in the field of entrepreneurship such as (online) marketing, legal knowledge, finance, sales, pitching and project management.
The minor uses the European EntreComp framework and the Lean Startup methodology. This way, we work on your personal development as an entrepreneur and ensure that you can take big steps with your own company. We expect you to immediately put the knowledge you have gained into practice.
Naturally, you will be assisted during this process by experienced entrepreneurial trainers, coaches and external practical experts who will coach you intensively in the field of entrepreneurship and personal skill development. We help you to continuously reflect on your growth as an entrepreneur and the steps you have taken in your business.
If you are willing to step out of your comfort zone, reflect on your actions and are open to feedback, then we are sure that you have a chance of successfully completing the minor and further developing as a student entrepreneur. The entrepreneurship competences you develop during the minor can also be put to excellent use in another company as a manager or "intrapreneur" (entrepreneurial employee). This way, you will always get added value out of the minor!
You will have a lot of freedom to organise your work (attendance at training courses and lectures is compulsory), but this also means that we expect you to take the initiative and to 'get out of the building'. This way, you can actually test and improve your idea or business in the field. In other words, learning by doing!

Is entrepreneurship something for you?
You will work in teams to set up a business. You will do this based on an idea chosen by your team. During the minor, you will go through the various phases of a business in order to market a successful product or service. Although you will work together in a group, you will receive individual assignments and coaching in addition to the joint assignments. A team consists of about 5 students, from different fields of study and nationalities.
