Spark personal change to ignite disruptive innovation Climate, energy, sustainability, health care, water, and food… These challenges in the world call for disruptive change: not being afraid to turn the world upside down and to question your own ideas.

About this minor

In this minor you will work with transition challenges: how can you contribute to these based on your knowledge and skills. You will experiment, learn, and work together in multidisciplinary teams: individually and in a group. By using everyone's own expertise, you can find solutions for complex challenges. Field partners and tutorial team consist of people with different expertise and experience.

Why this minor Transition Lab

  • After following this minor you will have more self-knowledge (in relation to the Inner Development Goals) about your own way of thinking and acting for transition issues.
  • You have learned about disruptive change and transition thinking from a systems perspective.
  • Your competencies of analysing, designing, and collaborating in dynamic and multidisciplinary environments have improved.

More about the minor

These are the learning outcomes for this minor:

Learning outcome 1

I analyse challenges from society using knowledge about disruptive change and transitions. I look at these challenges from a societal and organisational perspective and I look at human behaviour, each time focusing on discovering the intent and working of transitions and disruptive change.

Learning outcome 2

I design in a multidisciplinary team a solution to disrupt an existing situation that contributes to a transition challenge, based on an applied research approach. I contribute to the design process and outcome in the multidisciplinary team from my own expertise, experiences, and insights. I integrate the knowledge, experiences, and insights of team members into the prototype.

Learning outcome 3

From my development with respect to the five dimensions of the inner development goals (IDGs), I demonstrate my ability to contribute to transition challenges. I demonstrate this through personal goals, critical reflection and feedback from peers, coaches, and experts. I present and substantiate my vision with respect to transition challenges and how my professional identity fits with this.

Programme

  • In this minor there will be a Semester Coach who will guide you and your group.
  • Several teachers will be available, all of whom have different fields of expertise, to help and guide you to a successful end of the semester.
  • The participating students are from different expertise’s, so you can learn and work together in a multidisciplinary team.
  • The semester consists of five sprints of 4 weeks.
  • After every sprint you will update your portfolio and present your groups’ progress.
  • There will be various workshops to improve yourself in learning outcomes.
  • You can be on site 4 to 5 days a week with your group mates.

During the minor you will gather your products in our learning management system (Canvas) and reflect on them in a portfolio. Based on your portfolio you will have continuous feedback in relation to your learning outcomes, which gives you a confident idea of the level you will acquire during the semester. The minor will be concluded with a final presentation of the products you have made and will make the scoring final.
