Havo- or vwo-diploma and missing a subject? Do you have a havo- or vwo-diploma, but are you missing one subject to meet the entry requirements? You still have the opportunity to be admitted to the study programme of your choice by passing an admission exam.

Dutch student without the right pre-education?  Are you a Dutch student and do you want to pursue the bachelor’s degree in ICT in Dutch in either Eindhoven or Tilburg, but do not meet the admission requirements and are older than 21 years? In that case, you are required to take a Dutch 21+ test, which consists of two parts. Once you have successfully completed part 1, the intellectual capacity test (ACT), you will need to take part 2, a Dutch language test. Both tests are facilitated by Fontys. Click here for more information.

English 21+ test. If you have Dutch nationality and wish to pursue the bachelor’s degree in ICT in English in Eindhoven, but do not meet the admission requirements and are older than 21 years, you will need to take an English 21+ test. For this, you only need to complete the intellectual capacity test (ACT). If you pass this test, you will need to independently obtain an English language proficiency test (IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge certificate). Fontys does not offer this language test. The dates on which the ACT test is administered at Fontys can be found here.

To take a language proficiency test, you can contact IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge organisations. More information about the minimum scores required can be found here. You are responsible for taking the language test in a timely manner, and the costs for this are currently your own responsibility. In the Netherlands, these tests are offered by various providers, such as: bltc.nl, cambridgeenglish.org or taalloket.nl.

Please note: There may be a period of a few months between taking the ACT and completing the language test. It’s compulsory to apply for the language test in advance; sufficient preparation time is also required. Many tests are offered at different prices, so it’s advisable to enquire in good time and to compare them.

Mbo-diploma level 4. Would you like to study at Fontys after graduating from mbo? Are you interested in knowing more about the transition to higher professional education, the study load, and the kind of work you can do after graduating? You can find more information here.

HBO-ICT internship: for a successful transition from mbo to hbo. Do you (almost) have an mbo-4 diploma and are you unsure whether you’re able to transition to hbo? Follow our HBO-ICT internship, which makes the step from mbo to hbo much easier. During a period of six months, you’ll follow classes with us one day a week, and you’ll learn about all the majors within HBO-ICT. You can get used to the level and attitude that’s needed to study on an hbo level. You’ll also get to know the content of the programme. The programme starts twice a year: in February and September.

We’ve made partnership agreements with a number of mbo schools. These include ROC ter Aa, ROC-Gildeopleidingen, ROC Leijgraaf, ROC Sint Lucas, ROC Summa, and ROC Tilburg. If you attend one of these schools, you can participate in the HBO-ICT internship. You may also be able to participate if you’re a student at another mbo school. We’ll arrange this in consultation with your school.

Want to know more? Send an email with your name and your mbo programme to our mbo coordinator: fontysict-mbo@fontys.nl

Tuition fees and other finances

Taking care of your finances is an important part of student life. There are tuition fees, possible scholarships and (proof of) living expenses to consider.

More about finances

Good to know: the Dutch Immigration Service (IND) requires non-EEA students to proof they have access to a certain amount of money per year/semester. Read more by clicking the link above.

What other costs should you keep in mind?

Besides tuition fees, there are more costs such as textbooks, introduction, excursions and a good laptop. Are you going to live in a room? Then you will pay rent and other living costs such as gas, water and internet.

Check on DUO whether you are eligible for study financing or a student public transport pass.

Foreign students in the Netherlands typically spend €900-€1,100 monthly, covering rent, insurance, food, transport, clothing, and more.

Non-EEA students must prove access to € 14,640,- annually for visa requirements.

Study Choice Check

It is important to us that you feel at home with us. A study choice check can help you do just that. With a questionnaire and a personal interview, together we will see if this programme suits you. Do you apply after the deadline? Then our recommendation is binding.
