Get a good impression of what your study programme will look like.
As a logistics engineer, you make a difference by improving supply chains and transportation systems. In today's fast-moving world, you help to create and carry out new ideas in logistics. The Fontys Logistics Engineering Programme combines theory, hands-on projects and practical experience.
You will develop knowledge in warehousing, distribution, production, and integrated logistics, along with essential business expertise and interpersonal skills. Each week, you’ll have approximately 25 hours of following lectures or working with your project group. Another 15 hours per week consist of self-study, which includes homework assignments, preparing for lectures and studying for exams.
In your first year, you’ll explore the basics of logistics, economics, statistical models, and project management. Each semester focuses on key areas such as warehousing, distribution, or production, with opportunities to work on practical projects and company visits. You’ll develop essential skills, gain hands-on experience, and work in teams to learn about the important role of a logistics professional.
In your second year, you’ll build on your logistics knowledge, focusing on data science, demand forecasting, and operations management. You’ll specialise in logistics engineering, working to improve logistics performance by cutting costs and boosting customer service. The coursework includes production, integrated logistics, big data, simulation, and data science.
In your third year, you’ll begin with an internship in a company and industry of your choice. In the second term, you’ll choose a minor to either deepen or broaden your knowledge. Options include areas such as customs management or e-commerce, and you can study at Fontys in the Netherlands or at one of our 125 partner universities worldwide.
In your final year, you’ll spend the first semester on campus, focusing on supply chain management. After the first semester, you’ll gain practical experience through projects or work placements. In the final semester, you’ll complete a five-month internship, solving real-world logistics challenges and presenting your findings in a graduation report.
