Digital Twin

The assignment of our project is the calibration of a
Renishav RENAM 500S metal 3D-printer with the help of the Siemens NX software. The end goal of this project is to have calibrated the printer as well as possible. If this is completed Fontys can print metal parts with minimal deformations for accurate parts

Project description

When this project was started, Fontys already had the printer, but it was not calibrated so there were big deformations occuring whilst printing. The biggest challenge was the printing itself, because the settings of the printer were not exactly right which gave us problems with printing big overhang. Another challenge was to measure the calibration parts with the correct accuracy. The results of our project will be the printed calibration parts which will be measured to find the calibration value necessary to make a corrected model. The final result will be the calibrated 3D-printer.
