Lector Interaction design
Dr.ir. M. (Mark) de Graaf
Mark de Graaf is lector Interaction Design bij Fontys Hogeschool ICT. Daarvoor werkte hij bij de TU Eindhoven, Industrial Design en heeft zijn sporen verdiend op de onderwerpen Playful Interactions, en emergence in complex systems. Hij is mede oprichter van een eigen bedrijf: SmartGoals, dat een succesvolle bijdrage aan innovatie in de sportwereld heeft gebracht.
Mark is daarmee een alleskunner die zich in het toegepast onderzoek als een vis in het water beweegt. Met zijn komst wordt de focus van dit lectoraat verlegd van Serious Game Design naar Interaction Design, hij zal het komende jaar gebruiken om deze transformatie te realiseren naar een expertise centrum. In dit expertise centrum zal Serious Game Research and Design een prominente plaats houden. Fontys ICT zal hiermee de betrouwbare partner blijven voor het onderzoeken, verkennen en ontwerpen van Games en Game concepten, maar zal ook nieuwe partners gaan aantrekken. Het expertise centrum zal zich breed inzetten voor begrijpelijke interactie met de complexe digitale wereld.

Mark de Graaf is professor of Interaction Design at Fontys University of Applied Sciences Information and Communication Technology. He previously worked at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Industrial Design department and has earned his spurs in the topics of Playful Interactions and emergence in complex systems. He is co-founder of his own company, SmartGoals, which has successfully contributed to innovation in the world of sports.
Mark is an all-rounder who is in his element in applied research. With his arrival, the focus of this research group will shift from Serious Game Design to Interaction Design. He will use the coming year to realise this transformation into an expertise centre. Serious Game Research and Design will retain a prominent place in this expertise centre. This will allow Fontys ICT to remain a reliable partner for researching, exploring and designing games and game concepts, but will also attract new partners. The expertise centre will make broad allocations for comprehensible interaction with the complex digital world.
