Printing With Continuous Carbon Fibers
The assignment is to research and test the properties of a 3D printed object that is printed with continuous fibers and a matrix material. Our goal for the project is to design an object that is as stiff the previous aluminum part but that it is more lightweight.
Project description
The research is based on a preliminary project from last year. The challenge in this project is to achieve the maximum stiffness for a part which is 3D printed. The
expectation is to achieve better material properties than the original aluminum part, since the specific stiffness is higher for carbon and the eigenfrequency is lower.
